The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to confirm the signing of William (Will) Harper for the remainder of the 2022/23 NIHL season.
The 20 year old defenceman is a former Sheffield junior and Midlands Conference player and, since his senior debut in 2018/19, has made NIHL appearances for the Senators, Steeldogs, Titans and Scimitars scoring 6 goals and 11 assists in 41 games, picking up 136 penalty minutes.
Harper actually made his Wild debut in the home game against Solway Stars on Sunday and made an immediate impact, contributing an assist to the second Widnes goal.
Talking about his move across the Pennines to join the Wild, Harper said:
“I'm really excited to get stuck in with the guys. I'm so glad to be here I'm looking forward to putting in the work at training and I’m ready to show what I can bring to the team on game day.”
Widnes wild player coach Richard Haggar said of Harper:
“Will is a tenacious, hard working defenceman who isn’t afraid to get stuck in. He brings something different to the team to what we already have and has fitted in with the boys already. Will gives 100% and will stick up for his team mates if needed too. I am looking forward to seeing him fit in with our way of playing and flourish as the season goes on.”
Will Harper’s home, away and warm up shirts are available to “own and loan” at a cost of £80.00 per shirt for the season.
