The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are back in action this Sunday 4th December when they take on league leaders Solway Sharks at Planet Ice Widnes, 5.30pm face off.

Solway are the reigning league champions and currently top the table with 27 points from their 15 games to date - 2 points ahead of second place Whitley Warriors. Widnes are in 4th place with 16 points from 13 games, 4 points behind Billingham who have played 2 games more.

The Wild have never beaten Solway in a league game but they did beat them over 2 games in the semi final of the Moralee Cup last season, drawing away in Dumfries and winning the home leg. The only meeting between the two teams this season saw Solway win 5-2 north of the border back in October.

Halton Haven Hospice are the Wild’s chosen charity for this season and representatives will be present at Sunday’s game holding a bucket collection. There will also be a raffle in aid of the hospice, with prizes including vouchers for Esposito’s, skating, Velocity and Nando’s and a signed Wild game-used stick.

Sunday’s game will also be the last in Widnes colours for popular defenceman Lee Kemp who is leaving for pastures new after 7 ½ years with the Wild. The game will be his 229th Widnes appearance and it is hoped that as many fans as possible - old and new – will be there to give the “Sheriff” a good send off.

The game on Sunday faces off at 5.30pm and doors open at 4.45

As usual, after the game, two Wild players will be available to meet with supporters for photos and autographs. Please note that this is now taking place in a new location in the corner of the rink by the entrance to the changing rooms - and not down by the café as was the case in previous years.

For anybody who is not able to attend Sunday’s game, the Wild’s broadcasting partners BASN are livestreaming all home league games this season over the internet. Online viewing tickets can be booked to watch the game HERE
