Joey Coulter Is New Wild Coach

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce that Joey Coulter will take over as Player Coach with immediate effect.

Wild Chairman Danny Davies said of Coulter:

"Over the course of this season, Joey has proven himself as a player and a driving force within the team. We're very excited and look forward to seeing what he can bring to the team as Player Coach."

Talking about his appointment, Coulter said:

"I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to Richie Haggar for his service to the club and his contribution in establishing Widnes in the NIHL North 1 Division. I would never have accepted this role if I didn’t recognise the potential this team has to be successful. My idea of success is making our rink a fortress that no team wants to visit, climbing that league table and start building a playoff winning mentality. The black and yellow army that follow us around the country deserve entertaining hockey every night. The transition might appear messy as I don’t believe there’s a quick fix to achieve our objective, we have a lot of work to cover but in the coming weeks I think fans will start to notice a lot more productivity in every area of our game and the results will follow. Thank you to Danny and Georgia for this opportunity, I know I have the support from the club and the players, now I want to earn the respect of the fans!"
