JOE WYATT BACK FOR SECOND SEASON

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce the return of Joe Wyatt for the forthcoming 2022/23 NIHL season.

Wyatt joined the Wild last season from Altrincham Aces and was an important part of the team that finished 3rd in the Moralee Division and won the Moralee Cup. He scored 1 goal and 1 assist in 28 games across all competitions over the course of the season and picked up 27 penalty minutes.

Joe is a former Sheffield junior who spent a long period away from the competitive game and was playing rec hockey in Manchester when he was spotted by the Aces and signed by them for the 2019/20 season.

Talking about returning to Widnes, Wyatt said:

“I am looking forward to another successful season with the Wild. Since joining last year I have loved every minute of it. They have such a great fan base and are a great team to play for. I can’t wait to get started.”

Wild player coach Richard Haggar said of Wyatt:

“Joe is a gritty, hard working player who puts in 100% every shift. He was unlucky to have his season ended the way it did as I saw him show glimpses of what he has to offer as his confidence comes back to him following an injury. Joe isn’t afraid to put his body on the line for the team and will have a big role to play in our season with him continuing where he left off.”

Joe Wyatt will once again wear the number 14 shirt and his home, away and warm up shirts are available to “own and loan” at cost of £80.00 per shirt for the season.
