FIRST TROPHY WIN FOR WILD ACADEMY

The Wild Academy Under 10 team with the Pool B Trophy

The Wild Academy Under 10 team won the first ever trophy for a Widnes junior team at the recent EIHA Sheffield Tournament where they won the Pool B competition.

For many of the players, this was the first full day tournament that they had attended and played in games with recorded goals and win/loss points. However, the team were set for a very long day with at least 7 games ahead of them and each member of the team made a commitment to each other to “B.Y.B” (Be Your Best).

While the day started off slowly, the Widnes team went on to win every single game during the group stage including several games which hit the mercy ruling of +8 goals against their opponents and after a very dominant display towards the end of the group stages, the team were excited to learn they had finished top of the group and went on to face Sheffield’s own Mini-Samurais team.

The Wild youngsters comfortably won their semi-final and moved on to the final to face Milton Keynes Storm who had been the closest team to Widnes in the group stages.

The Wild Academy began the game with some nervousness but managed to find their rhythm once again and became the Pool B champions after a 5-3 win.

The tournament rounds off a very successful season for the U10s which consisted of only a single defeat all season.

The Wild Academy U10 team consisted of: Henry Pearson (netminder), Caleb Eddleston, Ollie Cliffe, Max Goodey, Ethan Liversage, Stanley Shearn, Jacob Shaw (netminder), James Back, Poppy Ward, Harrison Ward, Elias Boardman and Kian Liversage. Coaching staff: Danny Cliffe (Manager), Terry Gray (L2 Coach) and Gary Eddleston (L1 Coach).
